<div>What began as a trip to the ER for persistent gastrointestinal discomfort quickly spiraled into a nightmare:

<div>Imagine spending your life saving others, only to face the devastating reality that the life you're now fighting to save is your own.

<div>That’s where our friend, colleague, and loved one — Felicia — stands today.

<div>What Happened

</div>

<div>On May 12, 2025, Felicia was diagnosed with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma — an inoperable, advanced, and aggressive form of cancer.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>And yet, through it all, she still shows up.

</div>

<div>Despite undergoing FOLFIRINOX chemotherapy every other week, Felicia continues to work — pouring herself into others, just as she always has. Because that’s who she is.

</div>

</div>

<div>She wears many hats — nurse, mother, wife, friend, mentor, survivor — and now, in a cruel twist of fate, she once again wears the hardest one: patient.

</div>

</div>

<div>The Battle Ahead

</div>

<div>Felicia’s next chapter brings her to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City — one of the nation’s top institutions for pancreatic cancer and BRCA mutation treatment.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>She carries BRCA and ATM gene mutations, making her eligible for targeted therapies and potentially life-saving clinical trials available only at specialized centers like MSKCC.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>There, she’ll undergo a second tumor biopsy and have metal markers placed to guide radiation — a critical next step in her treatment.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Felicia had hoped to stay at the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge, which offers free lodging to patients in active treatment. But strict eligibility rules — including a confirmed radiation start date, which she won’t receive until September 9th — resulted in a denial.

</div>

</div>

<div>By the time she qualifies, there may no longer be rooms available.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Now, while enduring chemo and preparing for radiation, Felicia also faces the crushing cost of temporary housing in one of the most expensive cities in the country.

</div>

<div>Felicia’s Story

</div>

<div>In 2017, at just 45, Felicia was diagnosed with two types of breast cancer. After a double mastectomy in 2018, she survived.

</div>

<div>And without missing a beat, she came back — stronger — returning to serve others once again.

</div>

<div>Over the past 27 years, Felicia has worked in emergency medicine — starting as an EMT, then advancing to LPN and RN. She served at the bedside as both a charge nurse and trauma nurse before transitioning into her current role as a Nursing Professional Development Practitioner.

<div>Felicia doesn’t have to wonder if she’s made a difference.

<div>She is the difference.

</div>

<div>And she’s done it all with quiet grace, fierce strength, and a compassion that can’t be taught.
