<div>Ezra had a brain injury occur at birth and has experienced a lot in his 3 years of life. He has spastic quad cerebral palsy that effects the way he moves his body and catastrophic/retractable epilepsy meaning his seizures are not controlled and do not respond to AEDs. He had a big scare a few months ago and here is an update from me (mom :))

<div>Ezra update - It’s been almost 6 months since we almost lost Ezra. It’s hard to describe, it can’t be seen through pictures, and I have kept everything fairly private because that event deeply affected our family. In so many ways we’ve had to “start over” for our family and had so many setbacks. Setbacks financially for our family, setbacks for both Ezra and my health. Braden has been unable to work the last few months because his seizures were so out of control and scary. My anxiety and depression have been at an all time high. I have tried so hard to give it my all and it’s just become too much. We decided to come back to Texas so we can have more support from family as I was running myself into the ground in Arizona. His care there was top notch so I feel some guilt leaving but we will still be going out there often for follow ups. His doctor there deeply cares and listens to me which is everything when dealing with a complex/nonverbal kid. We have to make some really hard decisions about what the next steps will be. Decisions that are harder than I can comprehend. His epilepsy continues to bring a lot of heartache to our family and we continue to pray for improvement. We will not give up hope. He deserves the best of the best and he deserves for us to cling onto the hope that things may get better!

<div>Ezra is the brightest light in our lives and it is our greatest gift to care for him and help him live his best life - but watching him struggle and the realities of how hard it is for us to access what he needs never gets easier. Overall I know I am the person who knows Ezra best and God has given intuition all along the way and will continue to. I will continue to advocate and trust my gut with him even when everyone else doubts or thinks I’m crazy.

<div>It’s hard to describe what’s happened in the last few months because things have been SO hard but also so many moments of joy. He has grown so much cognitively  and interacts with us in ways I didn’t know if we would ever see. When his seizures calm down and he has a chance for his brain to rest he is a different kid. He is happy &amp; playful, full of giggles and smiles - eager to move and craving to learn. I pray for more of those days! There is no easy answer or “cure” to get there though, it will take a lot of trial and error. We truly need prayers!

I never expected our life to look this way and I hate that we’ve had to ask for help so many times, but I appreciate the community that’s come beside us and loved us through this journey. I truly hope I convey not just the struggles and but also the joy. I never want to come across like I am ungrateful or unhappy. It is my greatest honor and joy to be Ezra’s mom. We are blessed beyond measure by his life.
