Support Evelyn's Fight Against Cancer

Over winter break, 9-year-old Evelyn Tew had brain surgery to remove a two-inch tumor from her cerebellum. At this time, the family is waiting to find out more pathology details, which will affect the prognosis, but the preliminary tumor diagnosis is medulloblastoma. Evelyn’s surgery to remove the tumor took 2 ½ hours. Thankfully, the surgeon was able to remove all of what was visible and reported that it had not metastasized. Evelyn came through the surgery like a champ but the road ahead will be prolonged and challenging. Going forward, she will need both radiation and chemotherapy. Evelyn and her family will need a lot of emotional and financial support.
Evelyn loves art and sold her first piece of art this year at a local art show. Her artwork displays a range of skill and emotion that reveals her soul. She loves her family and is like a second mother to her little sister, Penelope. Evelyn is a child who, by nature, is keenly empathetic and listens to and nurtures those around her. Most grown-ups who know her will tell you they’ve never met a more empathetic child. Evelyn has an incredibly big heart and gives the world grace. Everyone who knows her is better because of it.
Evelyn’s mother, Mary Tew, has touched so many lives with her teaching and her art. She loves her students and passes along her passion for art to them. She is more than deserving of help from the community she has served with so much dedication.
Evelyn and her family are such kind, loving, caring people. The time is now for their community and anyone who can empathize with this crisis to mobilize and give back to them. Resources are needed to help ease worry about medical bills and expenses that are incurred from any necessary travel. To support this wonderful family, we hope that all will follow in Evelyn’s empathetic and caring footsteps by making a donation.
