<div>On September 25, Eva went into urgent care for what she thought might be appendicitis, and an ultrasound showed a mass the size of a small grapefuit on her right ovary. One ER visit, one MRI, one hospital overnight, one oncology consult and a whole lot more chaos brings us to October 1, when Eva was terminated from her position at Anew Chemical Health Services because she's not FMLA eligible, having started with them in February 2025.

<div>Eva will be having surgery on Monday October 6th to remove the mass and her right ovary. They will do preliminary pathology while she is under anesthesia to determine whether it is cancer or not, and may proceed with a full hysterectomy if indicated. The minimum recovery time will be 4 weeks before she could return to work, and depending on the diagnosis it could be longer. While we hope for the best outcome, we want to make sure she and Nik are not stressed about finances so they can focus on getting through this incredibly difficult time.

<div>To know Eva is to love her. She is strong and fierce and beautiful and funny. She is the absolute Sun to her little sister Remi, and to my daughters as well. She's in college studying to become a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) to help people struggling with addiction and in recovery. She's learned Transcrainial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) from the ground up and has been working with TMS providers to deliver and coordinate treatment in this important and impactful therapy. She deeply cares for others and is highly motivated to support those in need. Right now she really needs our help. The uncertainty of this type of situation is hard no matter how old you are, but at 24 this is not something she could possibly be prepared for.
