Hi, my name is Ethan Young, and I am an 18-year-old trumpet player at the University of Georgia's Hugh Hodgson School of Music. Over the past few years, I have fallen in love with drum corps. As a young, aspiring musician, I have worked hundreds of hours to make my dream of marching with a World Class Drum Corps come true. In 2024, I marched my first season with the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps. This experience enhanced my love for the activity and integrated me into the deep Troopers history and into the corps' close-knit family. In November, I was selected for another highly coveted contract with the Troopers. The contract I received was not from an audition but was given based on my performance in the 2024 season. The staff believe that my personal growth and achievement through the summer displayed my dedication and potential, which led them to offer me this contract.
The Troopers are a World Class Corps out of Casper, Wyoming that was founded in 1957 and has been competing at an elite level ever since, ending 2023 and 2024 seasons in the top 10 at the Drum Corps International World Championships. This wonderful organization has selected me to continue their historic legacy in the 2025 season, but to march this year, I need support from friends and family like you!
In order to make my dreams become a reality, I need to come up with about $5000. These funds will pay for my dues which covers thousands of miles in transportation, music and performance education, housing, uniforms, state of the art equipment and instruments, and insurance policies specific to drum corps. During the drum corps season, the Troopers travel across the country, performing in 25 shows across 15 states. This makes transportation and lodging for the corps a huge cost, especially with nearly 200 members. This includes the elite staff that bring the highest level of education to their performers. This education is the next step in my music journey, as it would greatly enhance my musicianship and athleticism. During the tour, I will also need funds for food on free days, everyday necessities such as additional food, toiletries, laundry, spending money, etc.
Any and all donations are greatly appreciated, and I cannot wait to show you what the Troopers have planned for this season!
