<div>Erin Beyer is one of the good ones; I mean the kind, hardworking, team playing, compassionate type of good ones. I have been very fortunate to know Erin, and get to work alongside her at many different hospitals, for many years, and have seen her dedication, and exemplary care in many different roles.
</div>

</div>
<div>15 years ago, Erin began working in an Emergency Department, and never looked back. As a tech, and then a nurse she provided care in unpredictable, and often challenging environments. Erin worked through the Covid-19 pandemic in an insanely busy Level I trauma ER. She cared for incredibly sick patients, many post open heart surgery and/or on a heart and lung machine (ECMO) in a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), transitioned to an impoverished inner city hospital to care for those utterly in need, and finally has been working as a highly specialized regional float nurse - literally going to the hospitals with the highest need to care for patients in any environment.

<div>There's an old adage that sometimes bad things happen to good people - this summer has been a testament to that for Erin and her family.
</div>

</div>
<div>At the end of May 2025 Erin's husband Ken unexpectedly lost his job and Erin became the sole breadwinner of their family as Ken has continued to try and find work.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On July 2nd, Erin, at 39 years old, was diagnosed with breast cancer (DCIS) - just one day before the 12th birthday of her eldest daughter.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Erin underwent a lumpectomy biopsy on July 31st, and the results were not what was hoped for. The pathology came back with positive borders - meaning there were cancerous cells at the edge of the tissue, indicative of cancer still being left in her body.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Erin is meeting with her oncology team to determine the best treatment options. 
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This means that Erin is going to have a big recovery process ahead, and with little PTO, and only partial coverage from short-term disability, her family is faced with the impending financial strain on top of the emotional toll.
</div>

</div>
