Support Eric while he fights brain cancer

This fund is being set up for Eric and Senia (Halteman) Dalzell and their family because of the unexpected medical journey of Eric in the last several months.
Eric and Senia both grew up in Pickle Lake, Ontario and have raised their four children (now adults) there. Eric has been a paramedic in this isolated town for years, as well as a volunteer firefighter, and very active in the local church and community.
Early August 2018, Eric experienced facial tremors. With his training and experience, he knew this was not normal and had it checked out. MRI and CT scans revealed an anomaly in his brain. This was subsequently removed through surgery, and the tumor was tested to reveal cancer. Eric was sent home to recuperate before beginning radiation and chemotherapy. They were only home for a short time before Eric suffered very serious seizuring and was airlifted back to Thunder Bay. Senia was not able to be in the airplane with him, but friends drove her the six hours to the city. Eric was resting well when she arrived, but Senia did not realize how long their stay in Thunder Bay would turn out to be.
Eric was kept in the hospital to recover and then began his radiation treatments, as well as chemotherapy. After a month they were able to be in an out-patient residence for the last couple weeks of radiation. Eric was better able to rest there, but the treatments were physically and emotionally exhausting. Both Eric and Senia returned to Pickle Lake late in November after his 30th radiation treatment.
While at home, trying to regain his health and stamina, Eric began experiencing shortness of breath and an elevated fever. After only 11 days in Pickle Lake, Eric was airlifted to Thunder Bay again (there is no
doctor in town). This time Senia was able to go along in the airplane. Tests results showed a UTI, pneumonia, blood clots in each lung, and bacteria in his blood. Strong antibiotic treatment was started, but within three days (Dec 12) Eric was put in ICU and then intubated to help with his labored breathing.
At this time we have no idea how long Eric will be in the hospital and off work, and because the hospital six hours from Pickle Lake, Senia is not able to be working and stay with Eric. Our Canadian health insurance covers the cost of Eric’s surgery, medical treatment and hospital stay. However there are other expenses to the family that include, but are not limited to: travel costs to get to and from Thunder
Bay, extended stays in the city, and food; not to mention the regular living expenses.
Your love and generosity is so appreciated, but we greatly covet your prayers. Please lift Eric and his family to Our Heavenly Father. Ask that Eric be healed and restored to his family.
