Emanuel Garner, or Manny as some called him, lost his fight with lung cancer on November 6, 2024. He was the current sous chef at Wake Forest University. He was a previous survivor of prostate cancer, which prevented most life insurance companies from offering him affordable life insurance. So, he kept his coverage through his job. Unfortunately, he got sick during open enrollment and was unable to renew his benefits.

So, his family is reaching out on his behalf to give him the homegoing celebration he deserves. Emanuel was a man who loved his family and loved to have fun. Cooking was his passion. He would throw cookouts so he could grill for his family and friends and see them enjoy each other. The famous Chef E was always so full of life and telling a story about something he experienced in life. He would often remind others his name meant “God is with me” and that God was always with him no matter what. He will truly be missed by those who knew him. To know him was to love him. His infectious laughter will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
