<div>Since 2018, Ehser Kanyaw has dedicated his life to serving the<span> community as a firefighter/paramedic for the Utica Fire Department and a member of IAFF Local 32. Known for his compassion, bravery, and unwavering dedication, Ehser has always been there for others in their moments of need. Now, he needs our help.</span>

<div>Shortly after joining the fire department, Ehser was diagnosed with liver cancer. Despite the diagnosis, Ehser has continued to serve his community while battling this devastating illness. He was initially placed on the liver transplant list, but his journey took a heartbreaking turn when the cancer metastasized to his abdominal wall, lungs, and scapula bone.

<div>Ehser is currently undergoing specialized treatment at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. This involves a 10-hour round trip that Ehser makes at least once a month, all while continuing to work through his illness to support his family and serve his community.

<div>Ehser is a devoted husband to his wife, Emily, with whom he has shared 10 years of marriage. Together, they are raising their two young children—6-year-old Luke and 3-year-old Lydia. Ehser’s fight is not just for himself but for his family, who rely on him as their foundation of love and support.

<div>Anyone who knows Ehser knows how humble and selfless he is, which is why he was very reluctant to allow this GoFundMe campaign to happen. However, his friends and fellow firefighters were adamant about helping him during this incredibly challenging time. They saw how much he has sacrificed for others and knew it was time for the community to step up and give back.
