<div>I’m writing to you with a heavy heart to share a deeply personal challenge I’m facing. Recently, <strong>I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF)</strong>, a rare and progressive lung disease that causes scarring of the lungs, making it increasingly difficult to breathe. “Idiopathic” means the cause is unknown, and while there is no cure, current treatments aim to slow its progression. At this stage, my only long-term option is to be placed on a lung transplant list, and I am relying on medications to sustain me until I’m approved for surgery.

<div>Living with IPF is a difficult journey, and I am doing my best to remain hopeful and strong. However, the financial burden has been overwhelming. The costs of treatments, medications, specialized therapies, and medical equipment continue to grow. Unfortunately, because of my illness, I’ve had to leave the job I dedicated nearly 30 years to. I’m currently awaiting approval for RRB Disability from the Railroad Retirement Board—a process that can take well over a year to be approved. In the meantime, I have no income or health insurance to cover the mounting medical expenses.

<div>While my condition restricts me from physically demanding work, I am open to opportunities that align with my abilities. If you or someone you know has any recommendations or ideas, I would be deeply grateful.
