<div>After decades as an award-winning photojournalist, Doug Graham announced his retirement July 23.
</div>

<div>One month later, he was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer.
</div>

<div>Now it's time for all of us to be there for Doug.
</div>

<div>I met Doug in 1985, the year with both started at the Loudoun Times-Mirror newspaper in Leesburg, Va., and have remained close friends ever since. That's why I'm initiating this GoFundMe effort.

<div>Doug and his family are facing a mountain of medical bills. Fortunately Doug has Medicare since he turned 65 in October, but already co-pays and deductibles are adding up. There will be more in the future, and there are always unexpected costs.

<div>Doug is starting chemotherapy Tuesday, Nov. 4. Yes, that's Election Day.
</div>
