Support Dorian During his Battle with Cancer

Hi, my name is Carrie. I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my twenty-six-year-old nephew, Dorian, who was recently diagnosed with malignant brain cancer. He underwent brain surgery December 29th and will require further treatment with chemotherapy, radiation, or both.

Anyone who knows Dorian knows that this tragic diagnosis happened to the kindest, most caring, hardest-working, and positive man in the world. We are all heartbroken and stunned by the news.

Last year, Dorian moved to Bangor, Maine with his wonderful girlfriend, Thalia, with the goal of pursuing a mechanical engineering technology degree from the University of Maine. He started classes last August, got a part-time job on campus, and was so excited to finally be working toward his dream. I remember when Dorian was just a little boy, taking things apart, wondering how vacuums worked, and building things with whatever tools he could find—it’s no surprise engineering became his goal.

Now, however, he’ll have to step away from the classes he loves and the job he enjoys in the Advanced Manufacturing Center on the university campus. Because of that and the expenses he faces, including rent, truck payments, food, student loans, uncovered medical costs (he’s not yet on a new insurance plan since his move), and transportation to and from medical appointments until he can drive again, I am reaching out to others in hope that they might support Dorian in this difficult and painful road ahead, no matter the amount.
