Most don’t know this, but while I’ve always been a huge animal advocate, Donald’s rescue has been close to my heart because he helped me too. He took my sweet Cheeseburger when I was at a place in life that I wasn’t physically able to care for her and he gave her a safe space and all the butt scratches she could ever want. Cheeseburger passed away yesterday, and Donald called me about an hour after she passed and made sure I was okay with him posting her. The picture of her is about an hour before she passed away, comfortable and warm and pain free. This is the other side of rescue that no one sees - aside from all the cleaning and nightly waking for potty breaks, there is death. Even with over 140 dogs, Donald still remembered Cheeseburger’s name. He had a billion things to get done and he still sat with her to make sure she wasn’t alone when she took her last breath.
Donald needs our help. It is cold, folks. It takes time to feed these dogs, make sure they’re getting exercise, make sure they’re warm, etc. He does it with minimal help and he never complains. This Christmas I am asking that you find it in your heart to help him. Aside from the never ending need for dog food, I’ve created this GoFundMe as an alternative way for people to help. While I know times are tough and sometimes you just can’t afford to donate, if HALF the people who watched his videos donated just $1, he’d have enough money to buy dog food for a whole month (maybe, he’s got a ton of dogs).
