As your reading this we ask that you lovingly please help support DeAngelo Harris and his Family. To help ease some of the large responsibility that Danielle carries. They are currently facing a situation that no one or family would ever want to experience espeacilly with a young family. DeAngelo has stage/grade 4 Terminal Glioblastoma Brain Cancer. DeAngelo is an Elder in the South Covington, GA congregation. He and his family are one of the most loving, kind and giving families I know. Danielle his wife, daughter Abrianna and son Landon are all Regular Pioneers. I have been both amazed and encouraged in their determination to continue serving Jehovah to the full even in times of distress! This last year has been espeacially hard on the Family.
DeAngelo was first diagnosed in 1999 with an astrocytoma (cancerous brain tumor). He didn't know it was there ,until he had a seizure. He had surgery, chemo, and radiation for the brain cancer ; then in same year had to have neck surgery. In 2005 it came back, and experienced another seizure which was a higher grade. He and the family went through surgery and treatments again. Advised that unfortunately it's a cancer that gets more aggressive with each recurrence. The cancer came back end of 2016 and the doctors decided to watch it. In January he had back to back seizures and ended up almost dying with an unexplained infection that landed him in the hospital. DeAngelo was sent back to neurosurgeon and yet had another seizure. In February 2017 DeAngelo had surgery and the family received terrible news that it was now stage/grade 4 Terminal Glioblastoma or GBM. It then pruogressed to it's worst stage. In March he ended up having to go back to the hospital. Shortly thereafter his mom,who in the past was able to help Danielle care for the family and DeAngelo during treatments,surgery, and recooperation passed away in April. During this time DeAngelo kept having pain, feeling very sick, and having no energy.
Normal Treatments have not been effective this time to reduce the tumor. This month ,Oct 30, 2017 DeAngelo had another brain surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible. He has just come home last night due to some complications. He has a follow up next week with neurosurgeon and then at the end of the month they will check him to see if the clinical trials are working to keep it from growing .Although there is no cure, they will check him continually every few weeks. We are praying that it keeps it at bay for awhile. Because it is a recurring terminal cancer it will only get worse. Danielle says that they are "praying the treatment helps it not grow as fast and aggressively, And as the neurosurgeon said "buy him a little more time".
This is why the Harris need some help, DeAngelo has understandably not been able to work for a long time.
Danielle had a small cleaning business that has been supporting the family of 6, all the while continuing to Pioneer, homeschool her children and care for DeAngelo. Danielle has been carrying a large load and her children Bri and Landon I have seen work so hard to help their mother and take up some of the responsibilities even at such a young age. During this time while DeAngelo is healing form his Surgery and undergoing continued treatments, Danielle being his primary caregiver will need to cut back and will not be able to work enough to cover necessities for the family.
As a family and brotherhood let's try to make that burden a little lighter for our dear sister and family.
