From the small town of Waimea on Hawaii Island, to the big city of New York, Hawaii Designer goes to New York Fashion Week 2021!
Dezigns By Kamohoalii has been officially invited to participate in New York Fashion Week Runway 7 Fashion showcase September 9, 2021, at Sony Hall in Time Square. Their Hawaii presentation will be historic as they will be the first Hawaii designer to present on the official New York Fashion Week Runway 7 Fashion Platform.
Featuring designer and Kumu Hula Micah Kamohoalii, they will be showcasing Hawaiian kapa arts, collaborating with Lauhala Weavers, Feather Artisans, Hawaii Music Makers, Chanters and Hula dancers to present Native Hawaiian culture, arts and fashion. A full artist cast comprised of designers, models, Na Hoku Hanohano Award winners, renown Kumu, powerful chanters and keepers of culture, truly a spectacle not to be missed.
Like other festivals worldwide, New York finally got the ok and lifted restrictions to host NYFW, leaving them with less than a month to raise the money needed to go!
Please help our Kumu and his team get to NYFW! Your support will help cover costs of airfare, accommodations, transportation & any other expenses needed for their delegation of 30 Hawaiians to be part of NYFW, showcasing our Hawaiian culture and history.
