<div>On June 23, 2024, Dexter Manuel Gutierrez Matias was enjoying the day in Newport at the beach with friends. They were helping him become a better swimmer as Dexter wanted to be able to take his young son to the beach and teach him how to swim. As the day went on, the tide had started to come in and the current had changed. As Dexter was standing in knee-deep water, he was swept off his feet by a rip current. His friends tried to help save him, but they were unable to. The Coast Guard and other Agencies started searching for Dexter. Unfortunately, after two days of searching, they called off the search. We are still hoping that Dexter will be found so he can be laid to rest.
