My step-dad lost his job at the beginning of this year. The company he was working for fired him while he was out of work for medical reasons. He had been speaking to HR about what was going on, and he had a doctor's note. It didn't matter. They terminated him with a phone call. He is currently unable to walk and is in need of a caregiver. I have been doing my best to support him and my mother during these trying times, but I can't afford their mortgage. We have been selling everything we don't need, but it seems that everyone is ripping us off and taking advantage of our desperation at every turn. We are running out of things to sell. We just need to make it a few months until their social security starts coming in. I have recently gone through a divorce, and both of my trucks broke down with major issues (engine, transmission). I was forced to buy another vehicle, and all of these things have affected my finances to a point where I can barely keep my head above water to care for my mother and stepfather.
