<div>Derek McKenna is a 61-year-old man with a loving wife Jackie. They have been married for 36 years, and they have four adult children and five grandsons. Derek is a consultant for the Mi Via waiver, which serves people with Intellectual Disabilities. Derek suffered two massive heart attacks in November 2024. He developed Cardiogenic shock and was not expected to survive the first night in the Heart Hospital. With the power of prayer and the love of his family, friends, colleagues, and his clients he survived after being on full life support for over a week and having aspiration pneumonia. He spent five weeks in the ICU, at one point they thought that he was brain dead. He fought back and has no brain deficits at all, which was a miracle according to the doctors and nurses whose skill and dedication helped him survive. He developed a blood clot, which required surgery. Then he suffered a massive bleed in his stomach and almost bled to death. He has fought to come back to his family and friends. He loves his clients, and he cannot wait to return to work. He misses them as much as they miss him. Derek finally came home from a seven-week fight for his life on January 12th. Now the long road to recovery begins. The medical costs of being in three hospitals, with two stays in the ICU’s are massive. He needs multiple therapies to help him regain his mental and physical strength. Any help received will be greatly appreciated.
