Support Delia's Emergency Surgery Costs
Hi, my name is Melissa, and this sweet baby is Delia. She was born in October of 2010, and she has been my husband and I's world for the past 14 years. She is a Bassett Hound and Rat Terrier Mix, and she has all the attitude and love to give. Recently we moved back to Virginia, and within the past week she went into heat which has ultimately given her a pyometra which was caused by a bacterial infection. She now has to undergo an emergency ovariohysterectomy, which is the removal of the uterus AND the ovaries. We love this baby, and she is well loved by others, and she definitely has a lot more life left in her. These veterinary bills are very steep though, so I am asking for your help, as much as I hate to ask at all.
She was taken to an urgent care facility where they initially checked her out and found the cause of the issue. While there, she received fluids and x-rays. The visit there alone was a hefty bill of $1,162. She has been taken to an emergency center, where they will be performing the surgery for the full spay. The low end of this procedure will cost $5,332 and at the high end it will cost $6,160. This is a tough time for everyone because this is happening right before Christmas, but I am hoping and praying that some kind of miracle will fall on our laps to get this done. All funds donated will go towards paying off the surgery costs.
Update as of 12/20/24:
Delia is still having a little bit of issues with recovery. She still has not eaten or fully gotten back to normal. Last night they had to insert an NG tube because she was accumulating fluid in her abdomen. She is still in a lot of pain as well. A good sign is that anytime she saw me or when I pet her, she started wagging her tail.
She had to be transferred this morning to a different hospital because the one she was at was closing for the weekend. With that being said, more cost has been added to the mix. The new hospital estimates that they will be holding her for another 24-48 hours at the cost of another $2300-3800. So far, we are at over $9,224 in veterinary expenses. I will not be raising the goal amount at this point in time. At this point, I am just asking for prayers for a speedy recovery and your help if possible. Thank you again to all of those that have donated already and those that have reached out. You all are saviors right now.
