<div>So, a few of my good friends decided to set up this gofundme page 18 months ago because they saw me dragging along with this illness; going in and out of the hospital for so long and with mounting medical bills etc..they decided to help. In May of 2022 I had another major surgery to cure a nasty bacteria in my Plural region of my lungs but unfortunately it didn't work. The illness came back and now fast forward to September 2024 and I am still battling this disease. I've been in the hospital since June 3rd. I've just recently had to undergo another big surgery here in UCSD hospital. I've ended up in ICU a couple times with lung issues and breathing but I'm doing better and on the road to recovery.

<div>"Anyone who knows Dean knows that he has fought and won against cancer four times. The last treatment was in 2008 a stem cell transplant using his brother Joe's stem cells. It has taken it's toll on his physical health. While his mental health has stayed strong, he has found himself in a time of need. When he was first diagnosed in 2001 at the height of his surfing career with Hodgkins Lymphoma, his first action after remission was to help others. The Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation was created out of this and has raised well over $1 million to financially assist other people who are dealt a cancer diagnosis. Now it is time to return the favor. Dean's current struggle is a direct result of having gone through multiple treatments that have rendered him almost completely deaf and currently unable to provide any income to pay bills and support his family. Many do not know this, but Dean had major surgery last May, for a condition (Pleural Empyema) that affected his lungs, several minor surgeries and 8 hospital stays over the past year. His most recent setback was a bout of shingles that left him debilitated and in lasting pain.

<div>As friends of Dean and on his behalf, we are asking for your help. No amount of assistance is too small. Dean is a role model for helping others. His struggles have inspired so many of our community members, friends and family to share their blessing in times like these. Dean is eager to get well and motivated to get back in the water and back to work. He has shown in the past that no obstacle is too large, and while not out of the woods, has proven that his will, perseverance and dedication to his community are greater than anything that could stand in his way. Thank you for your consideration.
