Support Deanna's volunteer work to prevent rabies deaths.
Donation protected
Early next year, I am taking part in a dog rabies vaccine event in Tanzania. I will be working as a volunteer with an organization called Mission Rabies. The goal is to reduce human rabies deaths by educating children and vaccinating dogs. Each year, around 60,000 people die from rabies. About half of them are children, most are the result of dog bites, and most are in areas of Asia and Africa where there is limited access to medical care. We work with local citizens to accomplish this. Mission Rabies is not affiliated with a religion or political party.
This is not a vacation. Aside from a two-day safari for the volunteers, we will be working all day, every day for 2 weeks. It is a strictly volunteer event. I will not be paid. My out-of-pocket costs, including airfare, vaccines to protect my health, and the fee to participate, are currently at $3,200. I included receipts below. I may also need a rabies vaccine booster series, which will be another $1,200. I'm hoping to receive support to cover a little less than half the cost of this trip.
