Hello, my name is Darren Kirchhoff. Having paid my debt to society, I am finally about to be released from prison. During my incarceration, I've been steadily working on my character defects and mental health issues that contributed to my being incarcerated so that I don't return once I'm free. One of my major defects was an almost pathological reluctance to ask for help, even when I really needed it, which is actually why I'm writing this now.

I have secured a spot for myself in a halfway house when I am released, and my first month's rent is due as soon as I arrive. I don't anticipate having trouble finding employment when I get out, but in today's uncertain economic situation, one can't be too sure. And while the halfway house does allow for some leeway on the first month's rent, I would prefer to avoid the added stress of being at a deficit as soon as I arrive.

Therefore, I am asking for help in covering my first month's rent, which will be $500. If I can get 25 people to contribute $20 apiece, that will cover it, although any amount you would be willing to contribute would be greatly appreciated. I actually feel really uncomfortable asking such a thing, but I know I need to do so to try to eliminate some of the uncertainty in this new chapter of my life.
