<div>Hello! My name is Chris and I'm starting this fundraiser for a long-time friend (who hates to admit that she needs help) whose husband is experiencing a medical emergency.

<div>Her husband went into the hospital for a necessary surgery on 3/17 that was considered a routine procedure. What has happened since surgery day has been nothing short of a nightmare for her and their family.
</div>

<div><strong>Dan has had a plethora of health issues over the past 15 years, with them progressively getting worse, especially the last 2.5 years.</strong> This routine surgery has landed him in the ICU, sedated on a ventilator with an infection they've been unable to specify, let alone control. In 3 days' time, he had the scheduled procedure and emergency surgery for 2 large internal bleeds. Toxic shock and hemorrhagic shock set in, and all organ systems were in dire condition. Just when they reached the point of extubation after lingering concerns about his mental status due to ICU psychosis, a 3rd surgery has been scheduled to try to repair the area of infection. Within an 8-hour period, the family went from cautiously optimistic to nearly back to square one.

<div>We all know that travel and tolls are expensive, not to mention grabbing a meal, parking fees, a drink from the vending machine, out-of-pocket expenses not covered by insurance, and the list goes on and on. <strong>Since emergencies never seem to happen at a convenient time, I'm making this fundraiser for her to try to alleviate some stress.</strong>

<div>Even when he's able to be discharged, currently there is no time frame in mind, Dan being sent to a rehab facility to gain strength will come with its own set of expenses. This can be a long road to recovery for both of them.
