<div>I have created this GoFundMe to ask for support for my friend, Danielle Fiorito, who is facing a very challenging obstacle with her health.

<div>Danielle’s journey started back in June 2018 when she began to experience daily fevers (over 103 degrees) and severe body aches. After countless doctor visits with no answers, things took a turn. In September of 2018 while a junior at Wingate University,  she was rushed to the emergency room and admitted due to low kidney function and the need for a possible blood transfusion. During this multiple-week hospital stay,  a considerable amount of tests were performed including but not limited to having hundreds of vials of blood taken, kidney and bone marrow biopsies, CT scan, and MRI. With all of these tests performed, no one could figure out what was causing her kidney disease. The doctors discharged her from the hospital with a diagnosis of Chronic Kidney Disease of Unknown Origin.

<div>Since then, Danielle has been trying to manage having a normal life while going to multiple appointments, trying different types of treatments, and having various tests performed. In July 2024, things took a significant turn for the worse. Danielle went to get her routine kidney testing done. After the testing, she got a call that her kidney function had dropped to 10%, and the discussion of dialysis and a kidney transplant began immediately. She is working on being placed on a transplant list, which can take anywhere from 6 to 12 months, and involves an abundant amount of appointments, tests, and procedures.

<div>Right now, Danielle has a lot going on with trying to figure out her health. She is preparing for hemodialysis which means she has to have surgery to create an access point for her dialysis treatments and exploring the possibility of a living donor through family and friends.

<div>Danielle is also the Speed and Strength Director at Ultimate Athlete in Huntersville, NC, a role that she is extremely passionate about. She enjoys helping young athletes live a more fulfilled life through their sport and also teaching them life lessons along the way. Unfortunately, her health is making it difficult for her to work enough hours to cover her medical expenses and basic living costs. As she continues to work towards getting healthy again by going to appointments and trying to figure out what the best route will be for her health, she is facing a financial burden. Through this GoFundMe we would like to uplift her and try to take some of the financial burden and stress off of her.
