My name is Danette Steele, and I am a single mother reaching out with a plea to help my son, Rahbert, who has endured unimaginable suffering and is now fighting for a chance to reclaim his life.
At just 19 years old, Rahbert was sent to Valdosta State Prison for aggravated assault after an altercation with someone his age got escalated. He was not a rapist or a murderer—he was a young man who made a poor choice. He went to prison to serve his time and take responsibility, not to be brutalized.
Instead, Rahbert faced severe trauma while incarcerated. He was brutally assaulted, abused, and was given drugs by those who were supposed to ensure his safety. This horrific abuse was enabled by staff under the watch of a now-fired warden. To protect him from further harm, Rahbert was placed in solitary confinement for over a year and a half. He was finally released—deeply scarred, high, and addicted to the drugs he was given in prison.
Struggling to adjust, Rahbert made a decision while battling addiction that has now put him in legal jeopardy. He cannot go back to prison, and he urgently needs proper legal counsel and access to a drug rehabilitation program to recover and rebuild his life.
We are raising $7,000 to ensure Rahbert receives:
• Legal Representation: To secure justice and advocate for his rehabilitation instead of incarceration.
• Drug Rehabilitation: To help him overcome addiction and build a foundation for his future.
• Therapy and Counseling: To begin healing from the profound trauma he has endured.
• Basic Needs Support: For safe housing and other essentials while he works toward stability.
Rahbert has suffered so much and deserves a chance to heal, grow, and live a life of dignity and purpose. Your support can make this possible. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will directly fund his legal defense, rehabilitation, and care. If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign with your community can make a huge difference.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing with Rahbert and our family during this difficult time. Your compassion and generosity give us hope for a brighter future.
With gratitude,
Danette Steele
