<div>It deeply saddens me to share that my mother, Cyndi Johnston, has been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer in her liver, bone, spine, and multiple other parts of her body.

<div>As you may know, stage 4 cancer means there is no possibility for a cure, only treatments to prolong her time with us and quality of life. My parents recently went to MD Anderson where my mother underwent multiple targeted radiation treatments. Over the last few months, there have been countless doctor's appointments, labs, and scans, and the medical expenses are beginning to pile up.

<div>My mom has always given her time and love to others—whether it was her family, friends, or own patients as a social worker. Having worked as a social worker, my mom saw countless patients and their families struggle with the physical, mental, and financial tolls that cancer diagnoses often bring. Just three years ago, she found herself in the role of caretaker as my father, John, was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer.

<div>If you know my mom, you know she’s a fighter. She’s the one who shows up, who listens without judgment, who gives without asking for anything in return. Now it’s our turn to be there for her.
