1 in 26 people will be diagnosed with epilepsy in their lifetime. I hope this will at least bring awareness to the cause. I wrote this poem 2 years ago. I’ve only shared it with a handful of people. I wanted to try to make a difference this year as I’m approaching the age my sister was when she passed away. CURE epilepsy has gofundme enabled so they will receive all donations directly.

My sister died 7 years ago. 

Although I miss her every day, I'd rather keep the memories of the 20 short years we spent together. 

My heart will always ache, and a piece of me died with her, but a piece of her will always remain in my heart, &amp; in the hearts of all those who had the joy of loving and knowing her. 

I would do anything to have her back. 

I would even enjoy places with her. 

But would that be more cruel? 

To know how it feels to have lost her, 

How could I give her that same pain? 

I truly believe she protects me. 

She made me believe in angels. 

There's an old saying, “to have loved and lost is better than to have never have loved at all.” 

I cherish the time we had together. 

I'm grateful for it. 

Being apart from her physically shook my faith at first. 

Now I choose to believe there's a reason for everything. 

The pain will never go away from losing her, butI'd rather live with the pain than to have never known her. 

Justine was a role model to me. 

She showed me the way. 

I'll replay the memories I have with her over and over because I never want to forget the radiance that I emitted from her mere presence. 

I feel blessed, to have the pleasure. of being your younger sister.
