Crissi's journey to wellness

Donation protected
Cristina was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2015. Rather than opting for the conventional route right away, she decided to self-treat using herbs, mushrooms, nutrition, homeopathy, yoga, meditation and other complementary measures. To the delight of her health care team at King's College Hospital, the tumours shrank down significantly. Crissi was of course also delighted, and with the agreement of her consultant surgeon and oncologist, went about her business with the background support of check ups every three months.

In July 2016, on her 51st birthday, a third lesion was detected and biopsied. This one was aggressive, and ignored all the work that Crissi did. It grew, and went on growing.

In May of this 2017, Crissi realised that she wasn't able to get ahead of this third aggressive tumour and agreed to a double mastectomy. She returned home from hospital on her birthday, exactly a year after the third troublesome tumour was found.

Crissi has been recovering well from this major operation, and was looking forward to starting the next phase of her life. Unfortunately, the genetic analysis of that pesky third tumour suggests that there is a 33% chance that it will recur elsewhere within 5-10 years. As most people know, secondary breast cancer is incurable. Given these odds, and weighing up all other factors, Crissi decided it would be prudent to agree to the chemotherapy.

She has asked to delay the start of this til after the Autumn Equinox so that she can try to build up some stamina and reserves of inner strength beforehand.

Many of you will know Crissi as a knowledgeable and experienced Medical Herbalist. She is well-versed in the treatment of folk with a cancer diagnosis, and she has also taken advise and guidance from her colleagues over recent years and months. She is keen to maintain her underlying health with herbs, clean eating, and any number of other supports so that she can weather the coming storm with as little collateral damage as possible. However, these things aren't cheap, and money is running very short for her.

Some of you will know of the accompanying background troubles and tribulations that Crissi has had to deal with alongside the cancer. The details aren't important, except to say that Crissi is exhausted and worn down on all fronts. She continues to keep her faith and hold onto hope; she is determined to state strong and cheerful; she does the daily work of blowing up the embers of her inner strength despite everything that is thrown at her.

We are looking to raise funds for Crissi, so that she is relieved of some of the financial pressure. Times are tough, and she needs the freedom to eat well and choose treatment options that will support her return to good health.

It is well documented that there are good herbal, fungal and nutritional options that can help to protect the body from some of the rigours of chemotherapy. It's also important that Crissi does what she needs to in order to avoid stress, anxiety and depression, and to increase her overall sense of safety and wellness. Whatever your personal stance is, it is Crissi's choice to work on herself in this manner. The kinds of things that would help are being able to afford a massage or acupuncture, being able to afford an organic veg box scheme as well as the use of herbal, fungal, and other treatments.

Crissi has self-healed two cancer tumours, but she's now too worn out and depleted to heal the third. She has studied deeply and widely and has listened to much advice and many personal stories of healing. Right now, more than anything else, she needs practical support so that she can keep going forwards without succumbing to the daily grind.

While she is grateful for all the help she's already received from friends and family, we are now reaching out in her behalf in the hope that we can raise some funds for her. Please, if anyone can help with any amount of money, consider making a gift. Thank you.
