<div>My name is Liza, and this angel, Codona, changed my life, and now her world has been rocked not once, not twice, but 3 times with the dreaded "C" word, and she needs our help. I'm a travel nurse, and I met Codona when she came off the elevator with the biggest smile to come take blood from my patients at 1 am. I'm a "smiley" person too, so the two of us clicked right away, 3 years ago at a hospital in Danville, VA, where she lives.   We hugged (and let me tell you, THE BEST HUG EVER), made small &amp; fast chit-chat every day, and shared smiles.  But as life would have it, my assignment was done in Danville very quickly.  Codona had started not feeling well before I left, and I gave her a list of what to ask the doctor and insisted she make sure she kept on them about it.

<div>Well, we knew something was wrong and sure enough it was and in 2024, Codona was diagnosed with breast cancer, fought it, and WON! Then, in mid 2025, I surprised her and came back to Danville for another travel assignment.  We hugged and hollered and looked like long-lost friends the first night she turned that corner and we met eyes! LOL. She kept telling me over and over how she beat cancer and how much better she felt! And I kept telling her that I didn't expect anything any different!!! You see, Codona is SUPER WOMAN! And GOD is the ALMIGHTY HEALER! She agreed about the God part, Miss Humility!

<div>Anyways, I'd been back a few weeks, and she rounded the corner, embraced me, and broke down crying. Doctors had found cancer in at least one of her ovaries, maybe both at her routine check up. I started praying out loud right there, standing in the middle of that hospital wing, holding on to this beautiful angel, Miss Humility, later to be dubbed "my sunshine" and as tears rolled down my face, I felt the peace of God wash over us both, and I KNEW right then that God IS GOING to heal her!

<div>Codona had surgery to remove her ovaries and the cancer mid September and is currently taking chemo and radiation. I am no longer on assignment at Danville. I had the pleasure of meeting her Mama Jackie, and I now just call her "Mama." She is just as beautiful a soul as Codona, my sunshine.

<div>Codona is one tough cookie. She worked off and on (more on than off) all the way up to her surgery, but her return to work is uncertain. Her healing has been met with a few speed bumps, pain, and infection.
</div>

<div>As well, last week, we were devastated to learn that despite the chemo, she now has triple-negative breast cancer in the other breast.
</div>

<div>She goes this week (mid-October) for a PET SCAN and to modify her plan of treatment.
</div>

<div>She really did not want me to do this, as she is a super private person, but she &amp; her Mama need the help with bills, and they are both just the most loving people you will ever meet. <strong>Codona has spent her life caring for others as a phlebotomist, often working while she was so sick she could barely function.</strong> Her Mama, Jackie, faces her own health concerns and is the caregiver for Codona, even though she is in her 70s.

<div><strong>Any little bit will be helpful. Or if you see fit, enough to pay an entire bill would be gracious. I promise you won't miss it. And the blessing it will be to them is unexplainable. I just want to ease their burden. They deserve to not have to worry.</strong>
