<div>For over 30 years, Coco Hoke has been the heartbeat of Sunshine From Polynesia (SFP), bringing warmth, music, and joy to everyone who has crossed his path. If you’ve had the privilege of knowing Coco, you know that he is more than just a musician, teacher, and cultural steward - he is family.

<div>Coco, born and raised in Honolulu, has dedicated his life to sharing the beauty of Polynesian culture. Whether through his deep, resonant drumming, his sweet ukulele melodies, or his signature beaming smile, Coco has been a guiding force behind SFP’s performances and classes. Alongside his wife, Lita, his high school sweetheart and partner in all things, Coco helped turn SFP into not just a hula school, but an ohana - a family, where generations come together to dance, learn, and celebrate.

<div>Coco’s kindness is legendary. He has a way of making old friends and new acquaintances feel special, welcome, and loved. He is the kind of person who remembers your name, asks how your family is doing, and genuinely cares. He’s always been the first to offer a helping hand, a warm hug, or a joke to make you laugh. His presence is comforting, and his generosity knows no bounds.

<div>Now, with the quickly advancing pancreatic cancer, Coco is fighting for his life.

<div>Coco’s doctors initially gave him a devastating prognosis - a timeline that felt impossibly short. But since seeking care outside of his primary insurance provider, his specialists have given his family hope and a new perspective. Coco is undergoing intensive treatments, including chemotherapy. Navigating insurance limitations, costs and medical decision-making has placed a heavy burden on Coco and Lita. We are coming together, as a community, to lighten this load for the Hoke family. With the right care and support, we have the chance to help Coco spend more time doing what he loves most: being with his family, playing music, and making people smile.
