<div>Christy Muir had a sudden seizure on Sept. 30th, 2024, and was immediately taken to the hospital in Durango, Colorado. Two masses on both sides of her brain were discovered. She was then flown to the hospital in Colorado Springs for further evaluation. She is now at Barrow Neurological Institute in Scottsdale, AZ, where the top neurological surgeons in the world will take good care of her. On October 10th, Christy will undergo brain surgery. There is a portion of the tumor that is inoperable, but the surgeon feels confident that it’s treatable. The surgery will take 4-6 hours and then she will move to ICU to recover for a few days. She will have rehab following that. Her doctor gave her a wonderful prognosis. He expects a full recovery for her to be able to live a long and normal healthy life!

<div>Christy is a very healthy person and there were absolutely no warning signs that she had a tumor growing in her brain. Christy is an energetic and well-loved middle school teacher. She has been married for 17 years to Mikey, the fire captain in rural Bayfield, Colorado. Mikey also works as a contractor, as he is a wonderful craftsman. They have two amazing children, Lily, (high school) and Malcolm (middle school). Malcolm and Lily are the kindest kids you'll ever meet. They are both highly motivated in academics, sports, and music. They also have 3 great dogs. One of them, "Otis", is even the school mascot! This family is truly amazing, and contributes a ton to the community.
