We have 4 rounds of chemo with 1 down and 3 to go. If the chemo works by shrinking the tumor then he will have a pretty invasive surgery to remove all the cancer. As of now it is too big and vascular to remove but he is on a feeding tube and unable to eat or drink during this time. I will update the more we get into treatments but as of right now it’s a waiting game and a pretty costly one at that.
My name is Christy, and this GoFundMe is for my grandpa, Garland. In August, he was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma in the stomach. So far, it's localized and has not spread. We did everything we could to get him started on chemo, but due to other health issues, it was delayed until last week. He will have his second round this coming week, along with many tests to see how this type of chemo is helping.
All of this is getting very expensive for my grandparents. Even though they have their retirement and some money put away, it's not enough to cover the amount of surgeries, chemo, feedings for the feeding tube, equipment, and many other things. Insurance has covered a lot, but the part they have to cover is astronomical.
I have posted some of the story to my TikTok and Instagram, and I will continue to share our journey as time goes on. We would be grateful for anything people are able to donate. We understand it's the holidays, and for most, this isn't possible. But please share our story.
