Support Child's Out-of-State Mental Health Care
Donation protected
Although the awareness of children’s mental health has grown over the last few years, resources and support are still limited, especially for children with higher needs.
I know and love a child whose high mental health needs require treatment that due to his young age is not available in the state of Michigan. This means that for 4-6 weeks he and his family will need to travel out of state to access a treatment program to meet his needs. For this program the family needs to temporarily relocate for the 4-6 weeks the program runs. Insurance covers part of it, but both the program and logistics of relocating temporarily is costly. After reviewing a budget, it will cost approximately $12,000 for 4 weeks.
As the child is a minor, he is unable give informed consent for information to be shared, therefore names and details outlining the full extent of the need will not be shared. This treatment is vital to the child’s wellbeing and he and his family have maximized the local supports. Please consider supporting this child and his family.
