❤️ What’s his story? ❤️
I’ve been helping care for this nugget for almost two months at a local vet office. He’s required round the clock care and bounced back more times than we can count.
- Chicken Nugget came from Lee County Animal Shelter with an impacted colon and an abscess 7 weeks ago due to not pooping over the weekend.
- We started him on the tiniest catheter I’ve ever seen and tons of meds.
- He was treated for anal atresia from abscess of poop under the skin.
- Tissue sloughed off of the intestines, bum and majority of groin and back leg area. Over the last few weeks we’ve worked hard to fight infection and get the skin, guts and rectum healed. There were many long nights I did not know if he would survive.
- Just when we thought things were getting better, the tiny one ended up with coccidia and was set back again not defecating independently.
- Unfortunately, due to scarring, the rectum is consistently constricting, attempting to close and he is unable to defecate independently.
- Priapism is secondary to scarring of skin that sloughed off from the original abscess. Will likely need perineal urethrostomy in the future as well. Currently able to urinate independently, but not fully express the bladder so we’re helping with that as well.
- He’s still on a regimen of medication and fighting hard.
In order to repair the damage done and live, Chicken Nugget will need these surgeries or be put to sleep. We can’t let the latter happen after how hard we’ve all tried.
Today I put in referrals to around 20 different emergency and specialist hospitals hoping to hear back, but we NEED funds to move forward with this surgery it will be several thousand at least, but an exact number to come.
