Support Cheyenne Mier: Ioway Ambassador & Powwow Jr Princess

Story

Support Our Ioway Youth Leader, Role Model, and Cultural Ambassador Cheyenne Mier, Baxoje Junior Powwow Princess Cheyenne Mier is our 2024-2025 Iowa Tribe of KS and NE Jr. Powwow Princess selected in September, 2024! Cheyenne is a fancy shawl dancer and as our Powwow Princess, she is so much more than a title! Cheyenne is a proud but humble representative of our ITKN nation as well as our community, a keeper of tradition, and a beacon for the next generation. Chosen for her character, leadership, and cultural knowledge, she serves as an ambassador at powwows and public events, helping to preserve and promote the rich heritage of our people and to honor our ancestors. Cheyenne's bonus parent, Nate Scates, is an ITKN tribal citizen and an ITKN tribal drum maker, singer, and drum carrier. He has proudly supported Cheyenne through her journey by singing and drumming at the powwows and events she attends. Her mother, Cynthia Goslin is from the Kickapoo Tribe in KS and is also Muscogee Creek. She has guided Cheyenne and has been preparing her to walk in a good way, to have respect for all our relatives, and to remain humble and connected. Family is at the center of their lives. Her siblings encourage her and their families are big supporters. She has many elders who continue to guide and strengthen her within her journey. As a young leader, she walks with humility and purpose, uplifting others through her presence at powwows, schools, and community gatherings. She helps lead others with respect, supports youth, and represents her community in a good way—through dance, language, and respectful conduct as she honors her elders and those who have walked before her. We are asking for financial assistance to support Cheyenne and her family with ITKN ambassador responsibilities—traveling to gatherings, preparing proper regalia, and taking part in events that strengthen community ties. Your support helps ensure she has what she needs to continue this important work with dignity, care, and cultural integrity. Ramáñi sdàn se ki. We see her traveling about and sharing and we see her family’s unwavering support! Pi ki! Warigroxi ki to Cheyenne and warigroxiwiki to her parents and family! Chúyu, gírowawahíñe.
