URGENT APPEAL FOR ASSISTANCE
Good morning from Checkpoint One here in Doswell, Virginia.
We would like to share our concern for the effect that the COVID-19 Virus is having, and will have, on our friends, family and country.
At this time, the need for our services has not diminished, it has actually increased. As a result, we need your support now more than ever to continue to help our First Responders, Any Status Military, Veterans, Caregivers and their families.
Your donation now will go further than you may realize. You will help all of the clients whom we are serving via video conferencing continue their paths through trauma recovery. They are learning grounding techniques that help put their minds and bodies into a more relaxed state. You also will provide the ability for us to sustain the hay, grain, and daily operations at the farm.
We have to maintain our services and our farm during these tough times. Without additional monetary support – honestly, we do not know what we are going to do. To reiterate, the need for our services has not diminished – it has actually increased.
We saw over 400 First Responders in 2019 and now they are on the front lines again. This time with more urgency. They are selflessly putting themselves on the line to take care of an unknown and invisible enemy. They go home to families just like yours and mine. They strip down in the garage, the porch and take all their clothes directly to the washing machine and then they go directly to the shower to hopefully clean themselves of any remnants of the Virus. This is bringing their stress levels and their families stress levels up even higher.
We need money to support these trying times. We still have to maintain our farm and keep the animals safe and fed during this time.
We have implemented a video therapy system for anyone within our population and we utilize the horses in these videos during sessions as well.
We need hay. We require 250 bales every 5-6 weeks. This costs us $1700.
We need money for rent and utilities. This costs us $1000 per month plus an average of $250 for electric.
We need money for grain. Grain runs us an average of $250 a month.
Mowing season is just around the corner and we no longer have a usable tractor.
