Support Chad Cunningham & Family

Toward the end of his efforts to graduate from the police academy so he could become a lieutenant arson investigator with the Grand Prairie Fire Depart, with whom he as worked for 15 years as a EMT/paramedic/firefighter/fire engine driver, Chad began to feel inexplicably ill.  He tried changing his diet and then just attempted to completely ignore the pain.   However, it continued to persist and increased as the days wore on.  A day before he graduated, he went to the doctor to get some testing done and the first prognosis was not encouraging.  A week later he was diagnosed with testicular cancer and just a few days ago he had surgery to remove the cancer.  He will be starting 9 weeks of chemotherapy treatment  very soon.

From the outside this all has seemed to happen so fast, but for the Cunninghams, the excruciating pain of waiting for any kind of news has taken an eternity.  Chad, his wife Tara and their two young children have been broadsided by the unexpected.  As if this isn't heart breaking enough, they have been unable to fully celebrate not just Chad's major accomplishments as a police academy graduate and Grand Prairie's newest lieutenant arson investigator, but also the announcement of Tara's miraculous pregnancy, now 3 months along.

Your contribution will help his family foot the bill for the out of pocket costs for the surgery and subsequent treatments...and the faster we can get people to help them, the quicker we can give them some sense of peace in this time of turmoil and confusion.  There are other ways that we can assist them in this time of need: prayer, meals, child care when needed, prayer and prayer.

Chad is the last person who would ask for help.  Ironically, he's one of the first people whose job it is to give it - and he unselfishly lives out that principle outside of the uniform every day - spending much of his time away from the station with his beloved family.  Please consider helping this sweet and deserving family, even if you don't know them.  Please note: we had to talk them into allowing us to do this for them, so the plea is coming from their close friends not from them.  Thank you for your prayers and thank you for making this a priority.
