Support Center Stage small San Jose dance studio

Donation protected
We are Center Stage Dance Company (CSDC), a small dance studio in San Jose, California. We’ve been providing dance education for kids aged 3-18 since 1963.

Now, for the first time in our history, we’ve closed our doors right in the middle of our 2019-2020 season due to the coronavirus outbreak and the shelter-in-place order in effect.

Before we closed down, our students were hard at work preparing for their roles in our annual July Portfolio Production (JPP). They were looking forward to continuing to collaborate on choreography, costumes, and scenery in preparation for the performance.

Now all of this exciting work will have to be put on hold indefinitely because CSDC is committed to joining everyone else in following public health guidelines to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

At CSDC, we proudly use a special business plan that prioritizes arts instruction and student development over maximizing profits. A big part of this plan is collecting monthly tuition from students to pay our regular monthly expenses. Now that we’re closed, we no longer have monthly tuition income to pay these expenses. This poses an unprecedented disruption to our business plan.

We are asking for your donations of any size to help us pay our expenses during this closure. Your donation will help to ensure that we don’t lose our ability to reopen at some time in the future.

We’re very proud of the work we do at CSDC, and we can’t wait to get back working with our amazing student body, parents, and the San Jose community. We would be immensely grateful for your help.

In closing, we will leave you with this statement of our studio philosophy:

CSDC offers an education in dance, but also provides a life long community and family for students
CSDC teaches self expression and confidence
CSDC fosters arts appreciation, open mindedness, and respect
CSDC encourages creativity, self expression and dedication through team work.
CSDC teaches the importance of giving back to one’s community
CSDC encourages students to work hard and to be self-disciplined
CSDC enables students to “see the big picture” by giving them real roles on- and off-stage in large theatrical dance productions
A CSDC student learns life skills like problem solving, independence, and self sufficiency
