Support Caspian's Journey to Brown University

My name is Caspian Covarrubias-Walker, I am a sophomore at Vail Mountain School and I have worked, played or volunteered directly for many of you. I am excited to share that Brown University has recently accepted me to attend a summer program for outstanding high school students. I have maintained a good GPA and I have been highly involved in sports and community work, which are two of my biggest passions. I have enrolled in “Social Psychology: How Attitudes and Relationships Shape Human Behavior”. This class is two weeks long and it will be at Brown University in Rhode Island.

I am reaching out to ask for help. The cost of this two week pre-college class, air fare, transportation, food and insurance is $7,214 . My scholarship and personal contribution covers $3,267 towards tuition. My challenge is raising an additional $2,267 (tuition) and $1,680 (expenses) by May 30th in order to attend this program.

Social Psychology studies how our social environment shapes and impacts our thoughts, feelings, and behavior. It helps communities by offering insights into how people behave within groups, allowing for the development of interventions and policies that can address social issues including inequality, bias and discrimination. These studies can also benefit teenagers by giving a deeper understanding into how group dynamics, peer pressure, and social norms influence them, allowing them to navigate social situations more effectively, build healthy relationships, and cope with challenges like social anxiety or bullying. I am confident that this course will provide a valuable platform to delve deeper into my academic interests and prepare me to take better decisions regarding my career path.
