<div>Diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia (HbSS) at only 15 months of age, Caryeshé J. Mitchell is a true warrior. Caryeshé has been navigating life living with Sickle Cell Disease for 20 years now. On her 21st birthday, January 20th, 2026, Caryeshé completed a series of tests and medical procedures to confirm unrelated complications, while still battling with her usual, painful Sickle Cell Crises. Despite missing out on important events in life: funerals, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, birthdays, etc., Caryeshé always manages to keep a smile on her face and cope with the unpredictability of Sickle Cell. Also, she manages to maintain a 3.5 and above GPA while pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Pre-Professional Biology at Barry University. All her life, Caryeshé has been living with Sickle Cell Disease, and making the grade, proving that she is determined, capable, and an intelligent young lady who aspires to beat the odds and become a Pediatric Hematologist in the future. Beside her academic journey, Caryeshé ’s leadership skills continue to be proven time and time again by being of service to her community, as well as having a history of being involved throughout high school and during her college years. Sickle Cell Disease has never been able to detour Caryeshé, as she always fought through every setback, and overcame challenges while juggling college, life, and her health.

<div>Although Caryeshé is able to adjust to this lifestyle of living with Sickle Cell Disease, she does not necessarily have to. Caryeshé is working twice as hard, or more than that of a person without a chronic illness just to make it day by day. Instead of living life this way, there is a possibility that Caryeshé can be cured, no longer having to live with Sickle Cell. With your support, Caryeshé can start the process to receive gene therapy which will give her the chance to live a normal life - free of pain. Your donations would not only raise money towards paying for this cure, but help assist with finances for medications, transportation to and from the hospital or treatment centers, and impatient hospital admission bills inclusive of tests, scans, and procedures or surgeries. Caryeshé is a brilliant girl with a bright future, and a lot to offer! With your help, she will be able to juggle being a college student living with Sickle Cell Anemia, while receiving other ongoing medical care for her health.
