Tim and Chrissy are the kind of parents who would do anything for their children, Carter and his older brother, Logan. Right now, their lives revolve around Carter’s care and recovery—a journey that has brought emotional, physical, and financial challenges no family ever expects to face. In October, Carter began experiencing seizures completely out of the blue, leading to multiple urgent trips to UMass and, ultimately, Boston Children’s Hospital. Along with the seizures, he was also suffering from blurry vision, frequent headaches, focal seizures affecting parts of his body, and persistent arm pain. After an MRI and extensive evaluation, Carter and his family received life-altering news from his neurology team in Boston: Carter was diagnosed with a pilocytic astrocytoma brain tumor. While doctors believe the tumor is benign and about the size of a marble, it is located in a critical area of the brain that controls facial motor function, speech, and arm movement. Carter is scheduled to undergo brain surgery on December 30th at one of the top hospitals in the country for his condition. Following surgery, he is expected to spend two days in the ICU and will require approximately one month of recovery at home. Because of the tumor’s location, Carter will likely need ongoing physical therapy for his speech, facial muscles, and his right (dominant) arm and hand, with an anticipated recovery period of up to six months. As Carter faces this intense period of healing—one month at home followed by months of physical therapy—Tim and Chrissy are also navigating mounting medical bills and significant time away from work. The funds raised through this campaign will help ease the financial burden and allow them to focus fully on what matters most: being present for Carter and supporting his recovery without constant financial stress. Donations will also help provide items that make Carter more comfortable during his recovery and support his long-term physical therapy.
