Carson’s Road to Recovery
Early in the morning on July 27th, Carson was life flighted to Condell Hospital in Libertyville after a nearly fatal car incident. He suffered a fractured skull and a traumatic brain injury which led to spending 6 days in the ICU. After 9 days in the hospital Carson made huge strides in his recovery. His brain swelling and bleeding had calmed and he was able to be transported to Shirley Ryan Ability Lab on August 5th, which is a brain rehabilitation facility located in downtown Chicago. Carson is doing physically very well and is working with a great team of doctors and nurses at Shirley Ryan to rehabilitate his full cognitive ability.
We are so thankful to the amazing teams of doctors, nurses, and first responders that have helped Carson and our family through this journey. While Carson still has some steps to go in his full recovery, he would not be in a position to fully recover without them. There are so many people who have prayed, thought of, and visited Carson and we are so grateful for all of you. The power of community is truly amazing and has had such a strong impact on our family and Carson. Carson has been a fighter through all of this and we know he will continue to meet each challenge that he faces.
While Carson continues to recover one of the biggest of those challenges remaining is the cost of his amazing care he has received. We are hoping to help him in any way possible to alleviate the cost of this great care. So many of you have already contributed so much with your time and thoughts but if you do decide to contribute we are so thankful for your donation to Carson’s recovery.
We are so blessed that we still have our son, brother, and friend. Thank you for your consideration of helping him financially through his recovery and care!
*Update- Carson has been discharged from Shirley Ryan! He is back home and getting some rest. Thank you all so much for your support. A very challenging couple of weeks for all of us, but we are so blessed for Carson to be making his way back to full recovery.
