Support Camilla in Cancer Battle

Donation protected
Camilla is a 21 year old, 4th year Biomedical Engineering student. She's an active, happy, dog-loving girl going through the hardest time of her life.

For weeks she was hospitalized with pericarditis and pericardial effusion, in severe pain, eventually needing surgery to remove over 2L of fluid from around her heart. During her stay, the doctors discovered the underlaying cause - Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Camilla has a 4 by 8 cm tumor right next to her heart, and is now undergoing chemotherapy in aims to shrink and destroy it over the next half a year.

Having to stop school, she can no longer receive any government funding for her living expenses - such as rent, food, pet care, or any medical supplies she might now need. Because of constant medical appointments, pain, and chemo side-effects she cannot work for money either.

She has just started chemo, and feels like shit. Any donation is appreciated and takes some of the stress off from the struggle.

Thank you

"Past 2 weeks have been the worst of my life... went to the hospital with horrible chest and neck pain and they ruled out heart attack and sent me home. 3 days later I hadn't slept from the pain and went to another hospital where they told me I had pericarditis (inflammation of heart sac) and lots of fluid around my heart. They tried healing with drugs and for a while it worked. It started coming back and I was trying to convince them for 2 days before reaching critical condition. I ended up getting about a cup of fluid drained from around my heart. Sitting here with a tube sticking out of my chest, two IVs in and on tons of drugs, hoping it will not come back again.

I have learned that no matter how hard you plan, often things come up that are beyond your control. The most important thing is to do your best. Don't be defeated. Brush yourself off and try again. It will mean so much more when you get there."

"I thought I had passed the worst of my hospital experience - boy I was wrong. I got a CT scan the day of my last post which discovered that I had a 4x8cm tumor next to my heart causing the fluid to come back. There was also a lot of fluid around my left lung causing lower lobe collapse.

2 days later I got a very unpleasant CT assisted biopsy. We absolutely needed this to diagnose the cancer. We waited and waited as the pain in my chest increased, until we finally discovered on Friday that the biopsy was inconclusive.

I ended up getting another bedside drain on Saturday that pulled almost 2L of fluid from around my lung and heart. This wasn't enough and I was whisked to the operating room for surgery the next night where they managed to get another sample."
