Support Calvin Niles's Fight Against Leukemia

Donation protected
In early April 2023, my little nephew Calvin Niles was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia- B Cell, just weeks after his first birthday. Calvin will be in this battle for the next few years, with chemo and many doctors appointments occurring frequently. Calvin is the most adorable, happy, spunky 1 year old with so much love and support surrounding him!

Our family is so grateful for the heartfelt messages, prayers, and gifts received to date. It is a wonderful feeling to know that there are so many caring people sending love and prayers to Calvin. Donating to this fundraiser is another way to show your support for this young family who is suddenly dealing with a life-threatening illness. To show support for Calvin, his Mom & Dad (Janelle Krause and Steven Niles), we are raising funds to help with food, gas, parking, medical bills, and wages lost while Calvin is in the fight for his life. And most importantly to make sure Calvin has what he needs to keep his smile and spirits up.

Let's help write a new chapter in Calvin's life, one filled with hope and healing. Together, let's ensure that Calvin's contagious personality continues to light up countless rooms and hearts for years to come. In the face of adversity, Calvin's spirit shines bright, reminding us of the power of love and resilience. Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and for being a part of Calvin's fight against leukemia. Our family is forever thankful for any contribution you can make.

We all love you Calvin, Janelle and Steven!

Update 6/2/23 from Janelle
Today we started a new phase in Calvin's treatment. For this stage, he'll be getting two chemotherapies per visit but he won't have to take any other medications. Good news, even though he's getting a double dose of chemo, these medications shouldn't make him lose his little boy spark.

Now, over the next 6 weeks of this treatment, the strength of the chemo will go up a little every time, so long as Calvin's levels and side effects permit. Our doctor/nurse told us that the side effect that could develop is getting sores in his mouth and booty (kind of like canker sores and a bad diaper rash). However, they said a lot of kids sail through without issue.

In non-hospital news, Calvin is now able to stand up again on his own. His balance is still a little iffy here and there but for the most part his strength is back.
