My name is Tralice Lewis, founder of Callie’s Custom Hat Wigs the only Black-owned wig store in the Pacific Northwest, created to honor my late mother, Callie Lewis, a hospice nurse who embodied compassion and dignity. I opened Callie’s in 2022 on pure faith, with just 180 square feet and a mission to serve those experiencing medical hair loss, as well as anyone who loves wigs as a form of self-expression. https://gofund.me/92b81ebc
This space isn’t just a store it’s a sanctuary where wigs become tools of healing, confidence, and transformation for cancer warriors, alopecia fighters, the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, and anyone searching for hope. At Callie’s, Wigs See No Color everyone is treated with love, care, and respect and safe space.
I continue fight every step of the way facing racism, rejection, price discrimination, and even vandalism but I’ve never stopped showing up for my community.
Now, I’m asking for help to expand Callie’s into a larger, permanent space where we can offer more inventory, serve homebound clients, hire staff, and continue providing wig education classes in one space, wig services and free wigs to those in need.
Despite applying for over $1 million in grants without success, I remain committed but I can’t do it alone.
If you believe in purpose, in healing, and in helping people feel whole again, I invite you to be part of this journey.
Secure a larger, permanent storefront for consultations, classes, and inventory.
Hire staff and expand services including wig education for clients,Youth, caregivers, and future professionals.
Serve homebound and medically fragile clients with a commercial vehicle.
Continue donating wigs to hospitals and individuals in need.
Cover rent, insurance, and operational costs to sustain and grow this healing space.
The Barriers I’ve Faced:
Denied vendor accounts, overcharged, and ignored simply for being a Black woman.
Faced vandalism, racism, and rejection while trying to serve my community.
Forced to find alternative ways to stock my store and support clients but I keep showing up with love, faith, and purpose.
Why This Matters:
Callie’s is more than wigs it’s a safe, loving space where hair loss meets healing and love and faith.
We serve ALL people cancer survivors, alopecia warriors, and the BIPOC & LGBTQ+ communities with compassion and education.
We build wig confidence, not just wig sales because everyone deserves to feel whole, seen, and beautiful. No matter who you are wigs see no color. We love you.
