After moving to Kansas City in 2009, my wife, Robin, and I began The Cajun Cabin Food Truck in 2011. In those 9 years, many of our customers have also become our friends, as we have established a loyal following, while maintaining a 4.8 out of 5 review rating on social media. We have been often asked two questions, first is “Do you have a restaurant?” and secondly is, “When are you going to open one?” Our response has always been, “No, but we are waiting to when the right opportunity presents itself.” Well, that time is here.
Recently we signed a lease for a property in South Kansas City bordering the state line between Kansas and Missouri on State Line Rd and Blue Ridge and located about 15 minutes from where we live. It’s recently been another restaurant and comes stocked with several pieces of equipment we will need. We’ll be occupying the place in February with a view towards opening April 1st. We will be providing the only distinctly Southern restaurant within 15 miles from our location, aside from a few corporate franchises who offer a minimal selection of southern items .
We’ve decided to call the new place The Southern Kitchen, offering our award- winning Cajun Cabin food staples we’ve become known for, as well as featuring an expanded menu. Some of the new additions will include a full line of po-boy sandwiches and southern comfort food favorites, such as Shrimp Fettuccini, Homemade Meatloaf and Pot Roast, Pork Chops, Fried and Grilled Shrimp, Catfish, and Shrimp platters, Daily Specials, a Sunday Jazz Brunch, and much more.
While the door has opened for a great opportunity with minimal expense compared to the average cost of opening a new restaurant ,we are in need of raising additional funds. Our estimated start-up costs to begin operation is $75,000, $65,000 of which we have already secured. The purpose of this fund raiser is to raise $10,000 which will help cover the one- time fixed costs of the following:
$2500- Interior décor and upgrades- including ordering counter, lighting upgrade, painting and resurfacing floors.
$2500- Equipment- including fryers, stainless steel tables, convection oven, refrigeration and freezers.
$5000- Signage-including outdoor lighted signs, and street banners

We are looking forward to continuing to see you and serve you through a Brick and Mortar location, rather than you having to find out where our food truck is located!
