Hello, my name is Lisa. My daughter, Caitlin, and her boyfriend, Michael, live in North Carolina and were hit by Hurricane Helene. The town that they lived in is no more. They were lucky, along with a few others, to live on the side of the mountain right above the town, and they survived. They had a horrible time getting out and had to be evacuated; one gentleman had to be airlifted because he couldn’t walk out. They desperately need help. They’re staying in a motel and have very limited income. My daughter is disabled, and her boyfriend doesn’t know when he’ll go back to work due to the damage. I’m trying to get them help for clothing and shelter. They tried disaster relief places, and nothing is being made available for the people in North Carolina at this time. I am also disabled and have limited income. His family is also in desperate straits. They cannot stay in their home because there’s no way to get in and out. Nobody knows when anybody will be able to go back to their homes that are still standing. My daughter and her boyfriend have left everything behind, including her vehicle, with no way to go back and retrieve any other items. No one is allowed to go back into that area because there’s no way to get back to the apartment where she lived. There are no roads. We would greatly appreciate any help that anyone could give us. Thank you so much.
My information: Lisa Staples. I live in Morehead, Kentucky. The funds are to help Caitlin Wheelden and Michael Stevens. It is for clothing, food, shelter, and transportation. They’re staying in a motel, which is very expensive, and they need help with getting stable shelter. The town was Chimney Rock, North Carolina. It is no longer there.
