<div>My name is Sgt. Adam Musgrove and I work for the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office and am the founder of a 501c3 non-profit called Santa’s Stars. I am reaching out on behalf of one of our own Chelan County Sheriff’s Office brothers and his family. This past June, Deputy Zac Moran and his wife Janaye, welcomed their son Brooks into the world. Not long after Brooks was born, the Moran’s noticed that something was not right. After several trips to Seattle Children’s Hospital, Brooks was diagnosed with a disease called Ataxia-Pancytopenia Syndrome or ATXPC for short.

<div>Brooks Moran was born last year with Ataxia-Pancytopenia Syndrome, an extremely rare disease with fewer than 38 known cases worldwide. This condition causes progressive loss of coordination, chronic fatigue, frequent infections, and dangerously low blood counts. Everyday tasks have become challenges, and the long-term outlook is uncertain. Brooks will need several bone marrow transplants, and there is a high chance he will need a wheelchair by age 10. There is also a significant risk of developing leukemia, and most diagnosed cases survive until their late teens. Despite these challenges, Brooks continues to show incredible strength and determination every day.

<div>The Moran family is facing mounting medical expenses, including specialist appointments with neurologists, hematologists, and genetic experts, frequent blood tests and monitoring, mobility aids, medications, supportive therapies, and travel to rare-disease clinics and research centers. Many of the therapies, tests, and supportive care services needed are not fully covered by insurance. On top of that, the physical symptoms have made it difficult for Zac to work consistently, and will eventually create a financial strain at the worst possible time. Brooks will soon be admitted to Seattle Children’s Hospital for over 100 days for bone marrow procedures, and once the process is started, he needs to be observed the entire time. Everyday living expenses are growing while Zac is unable to work, making the financial burden even heavier. Your support will help provide Brooks with the best possible care and give his family the stability and hope they need during this difficult journey.
