Support Brett's Recovery After Liver Transplant

Hello my name is Brett, and in December 2019 I was diagnosed with a rare liver disease called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis a.k.a. P.S.C. which progressed pretty rapidly over the course of 5 years. In 2023 I had my first life threatening episodes due to a failing liver. In 2024 I entered decompensated end stage liver failure. I struggled with bleeding episodes in my intestines and throat, ascites, portal hypertension, cirrhosis, and hepatic encephalopathy and I was put on the national transplant list on December 16th, 2024. After 44 days on the list I received a organ offer and had a liver transplant on January 30th, 2025.

I am making this today because after my transplant I went on leave of absence at work however I was laid off in February when the company I worked for decided to close 29 of its restaurants overnight. I have been out of work for almost 3 months now. I didn't have anything saved up prior to surgery and any remaining pay I had went to bills already. Just to continue my insurance alone at this time which I have to do because I need to keep all my transplant doctors and surgeons its just under $700 a month for the insurance. My family has been helping me out, but I know they all have their own bills and what to take care of as well.

I was just recently cleared for light work (such as in an office) a few weeks ago, but had a set back last week due to rejection complications last week. I have been applying, but it's hard to get anything office related when you need Mondays or Thursdays off for clinics every week. I hate asking for help or handouts, but the last time I was in need so many wonderful people showed so much love and support in helping me pay my hospital bills I couldn't believe it.

Any help here would go to my hospital bills from surgery up until now which is roughly about $15k, my monthly health insurance, bills and groceries all for the next 3 months until I get cleared for full work capacities. I don't want anyone to feel guilt tripped or anything and I only ask if you donate to do so out of the kindness of your heart and if you're able to. I know the financial hardships of todays world and am fully understanding if anyone isn't in a position to help. At the end of the day my faith is in the Man up above and I know I will be fine with his guidance.

Much love to you all and have a blessed day!
