<div>Hello! My friend Brenna recently found out that she has thyroid cancer and will need to have a thyroidectomy to remove the growth. It is not a chemo situation. The thyroid governs stress responses, metabolism, heart rate, immune system functioning and other related hormonal functions. It is an important organ and the doctors aren’t sure if it is malignant. She will have to have consistent follow up appointments to monitor other growths and make sure it doesn’t spread to lymph nodes or other organs. Brenna is working hard to finish a Bachelors in Science in Nursing at UW and will graduate in June! She is determined to finish on time because she has the goal of working on the Burn Unit at Harborview Medical Center once she is a licensed RN. It’s a very stressful, intensive process even without any adverse circumstances. I am so proud of her for how far she has come and I don’t want cancer to stop her. Her educational expenses are astronomical as the tuition alone is costing far more than originally planned. She needs our support and kindness to finish this important transition and manage her health. The funding will help with educational costs, living expenses and time off from working on the Burn Unit, to rest post surgery in March. She found a local affordable acupuncturist that specializes in endocrine to support her body before and after surgery.
